The irNetBox

The irNetBox is designed to control up to 16 individual audio/visual devices via external IR emitter leads. It uses a simple and open TCP/IP based communication protocol (pdf), so can be controlled by applications on most platforms.

NEW - the irNetBox-III
Released in July 2011, the new irNetBox-III supports concurrent output of 16 different IR signals, allowing a throughput in excess of 80 IR signals per second (dependant on IR signal type).
The new design is based on the XMOS quad-core XS1-G4, which is capable of delivering up to 1600MIPS. Firmware has been written in XC, a C derivative influenced by CSP theory that provides direct support for the multi-threaded, multi-core processor architecture.
Discontinued - the irNetBox-II
One of the ICs used in the irNetBox-II is now obsolete and so difficult to source reliably. As a result, we will no longer be manufacturing the irNetBox-II once our current stock has been exhausted. The new irNetBox-III is backwards compatible with the MK-II version so we recommend moving over to the MK-III.

  • 16 independent IR outputs that can be used concurrently or in any combination.

  • Contains an IR detector for learning/capture of IR signals.

  • IR signals are compatible with the RedRat3.
  • Supplied with a power supply.

  • Compatible with most stick-on IR emitter/flasher leads, however we can also supply them.
  • To support structured wiring, a 25-way D-type connector on the rear panel can be used to attach all IR emitters rather then the single IR output ports.
  • Full compliance with applicable CE and FCC electromagnetic regulations. Test certification available upon request.
  • RoHS compliant.
Software
  • The IRNetBox Manager software is used to install and setup the irNetBox.
  • It is supported by all other RedRat software including the RedRat SDK.
