RedRat FAQs - IrDa-like IR Signals
Some set-top boxes use IrDa-like IR remote control signals, most notably some Virgin Media (what was Telewest and NTL) cable set-top boxes in the UK. The RedRat3 (first version) supports output of these signals from V0.17 of the firmware and V0.17 of the SDK onwards.

Currently the firmware to learn/record these signals takes more room than is available in the RedRat3, however a DB of the signals is available for downloading.

To try this with your RedRat3, you will need to: So far, we have had confirmation by RedRat customers of the RedRat3 working with the following Telewest and NTL set-top box models:
Telewest (IrDa-like)
Pace D1000T, Pace DI1010T
NTL (IrDa-like)
Pace DiTV-2000, Pace DiTV4000-N
NTL (standard)
Pace DI4001N

If there are signals missing from the DB, you find signals that don't work or you have a Telewest/NTL STB model not in the list above then please let us know.

Update - July 2008
With later NTL/Telewest STBs, the RedRat3's control became quite unreliable, probably due to the transmitted IR data not being 100% accurate. We aim to resolve this with the new RedRat3-II as soon as possible.
