RedRat FAQs - Software
– When I use a new RedRat device on a Windows 7 computer, I get the following error message: Access to the registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\RedRat\RedRat3\...' is denied.
When a RedRat application (or code based on the RedRat SDK) finds a new RedRat device it creates registry entries to store configuration information about the device. In Windows 7 it requires admininstrator rights to create the initial entry, so when you run the application normally it will generate this error message as it tries to create to registry entries. To get round the problem, run the application as an administrator once to allow it to setup the necessary registry entries. Following this it can be run with normal permissions.
To run an application as an adminstrator, right-click on the startup icon and select "Run as administrator".
